SWEET & SAVORY WALKING TOURS SHOWCASE
HISTORIC DOWNTOWN VANCOUVER, WASHINGTON
VANCOUVER, Wash. - Food enthusiasts can now sample mouthwatering treats at a wide
variety of independently owned ethnic restaurants, cafés, bakeries and other one-of-a-kind
specialty shops all within historic downtown Vancouver, Wash. The first-ever Sweet & Savory
Food Walking Tours will be held this month providing the opportunity to explore the city's
increasingly popular food scene all while receiving a history lesson.
"The Sweet and Savory tours are a great way to sample everything from authentic Greek food
to amazing gelato and delectable cupcakes all within the city's downtown core," said Kim
Bennett, president and CEO of the Vancouver USA Regional Tourism Office.  "The tours are
designed to introduce locals and visitors to downtown Vancouver's lively food scene and expose
them to the rich history of the area."
Chocolate Tasting & More, owned by Savina Darzes, is well known for its tours in Portland and
Lake Oswego, Ore., but this is the first time the company has ventured across the Columbia
River into Washington. Under the guidance of Darzes, and local Vancouver resident Ramona
Perkins, walkers will be able to nibble on a sizzling Greek appetizer, enjoy an Egyptian
sandwich, and take a trip to the islands without ever having to leave the mainland. They can
then satisfy their sweet tooths with scrumptious gelato and cupcakes and sip Turkish coffee.
The walking tours will follow a 1-1/4 mile route and include stops at:
Dolce Gelato
Enchanted Tea & Gifts
Hula Boy Charbroil
Pyramid CaféTouch of Athens at the Hidden House
Treat (cupcake bakery)
Woody's Tacos
There are currently two tours scheduled for Thursday, June 16, and Saturday, June 25, both
from 1:00 to 4:30 p.m. The walks are limited to 10 participants who will spend 15 to 20 minutes
at each local business. Because the tours are new to Vancouver, there is a special introductory
fee of $27 per person. Reservations are required and may be made online at
www.ChocolateTastingAndMore.com . The deadline for reservations is 5:00 p.m. the day prior to
each walk date.
