Kiggins Theatre

The only historic theatre still operating in Vancouver, Kiggins Theatre is more than just a place to watch movies. Since 1936, it has been a community gathering place and a classic icon on downtown Vancouver’s Main Street.

While the neon lights of the Kiggins marquee hearken back to the bygone era, many renovations have been made to the single-screen theater. Head upstairs to the old smoking salon to find the Marquee Lounge, serving beer and wine which movie-goers can bring downstairs to enjoy while watching their favorite classics or the latest indie film. Added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2012, the theatre maintains its architectural lure and Art Deco design.

Kiggins Theatre’s community-centric focus has developed its programming to go beyond film. They now host stand-up comics monthly, science lectures, theater performances, instrumental accompaniments to silent films, and more. Find a list of upcoming events on their website.
