There have been multiple accounts of strange goings-on between the walls at The Grant House. From unexplained cold spots, to hearing footsteps, to seeing doors open and close at will, the strange accounts are enough to make even a skeptic take pause.
The entity thought to be responsible for these paranormal occurrences is General Alfred Sully, the commander of the Vancouver Barracks from 1874-1879. It is recorded that he frequently paced the hall during the night from the pain caused by the stomach cancer or kidney problems that led to his demise. It is thought that this pacing may explain the footsteps visitors claimed to have heard.
While a true haunted mansion could make most people run for the hills, we at Eatery at the Grant House have embraced the presence of our spirit companions, and are inviting the public to come experience these hauntings for themselves!
