FORT VANCOUVER IS SITE FOR
2011 NAIA CROSS COUNTRY NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
More than 750 North American student athletes to participate in races
What: For the third consecutive year, more than 750 student athletes from the U.S. and
Canada will gather at Fort Vancouver National Historic Site to compete in the
National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Cross Country National
Championships. The Cascade Collegiate Conference and Concordia University
are hosting the event.
Fort Vancouver has a long history of hosting cross country events dating back to
2001 when it was selected as the site for the USA Men's and Women's National
Championships/World Cross Country Trials. The Fort Vancouver course is a
rolling, European-style layout consisting of two kilometer loops on grass. The
moderately challenging course features sections of flat, uphill and downhill
grades, providing the necessary variation expected in a national championship
competition.
