Local Legends

We are very proud that have many sports legends call this area home.

  • Greg Biffle – Long before driving the #16 Ford Fusion for Roush Fenway Racing, NASCAR driver  Biffle grew up in Camas racing cars on short tracks. He first gained national attention when he raced in the televised Winter Heat Series in the winter of 1995–1996 and took the 1998 Rookie of the Year Award in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. He went on to win the truck series championship two years later and captured the Nationwide Series Rookie of the Year honor in 2001. He subsequently became champion in NASCAR's other two national touring divisions, the Nationwide Series and the Camping World Truck Series. In 2005, he was the winningest driver of the NASCAR Sprint Cup season and continues to win signature races.
  • Brandon Cantu - Brandon, a Vancouver native, is a professional American poker player who has won 2 World Series of Poker golden bracelets as well as many cash rewards in his poker career. Cantu is one of the few 27 players who had won both a World Series of Poker bracelet (2006) and a World Poker Tour championship (2008). So far, Cantu has won 49 cashes and total winning of $3,770,961. He has yet again stormed into the 2012 World Series of Poker, where his last success was finishing to the runner up amongst 285 players in the WSOP event #30 - $1,500 2-7 Draw Lowball (No-Limit), in which he won a cash prize of $63,048. 
  • Dan Dickau – As a former NBA Guard for the Portland Trail Blazers, Dallas Mavericks, New Orleans Hornets, Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Clippers, and New York Knicks, Dickau has fans all over the country. After graduating from Prairie High School in Brush Prairie, he played for the University of Washington Huskies and Gonzaga. He was named a first team All-American his senior year. Dickau was drafted in the first round by the Sacramento Kings in the 2002 NBA Draft. He is now retired as a player but works as a player development assistant with the Portland Trail Blazers. 
  • Tina Ellertson - Born in Vancouver to a Nigerian mother and a Ghanaian father who emigrated to the US, Ellerton played soccer throughout her childhood. She originally signed with Santa Clara University, but instead went to the University of Washington. She competed in soccer throughout college to become one of UW's most respected forwards and was named Pacific Ten Conference co-player of the year in 2003 and player of the year in 2004. She was a defender for magicJack of Women's Professional Soccer and has played for the United States women's national soccer team. 
  • Alan Embree – Embree is a former Major League Baseball relief pitcher who played with the Cleveland Indians, Atlanta Braves, Arizona Diamondbacks, San Francisco Giants, Chicago White Sox, San Diego Padres, Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, and Colorado Rockies. He bats and throws left-handed, and was used as a left-handed specialist. Long before he earned the nickname of "The Gas," he lettered in football, basketball, baseball, and volleyball at Prairie High School in Brush Prairie.
  • Tom Lampkin – Lampkin is a former major league catcher, playing from 1988 through 2002. Following his playing days, he was a cable FSN baseball analyst for the Portland Beavers of the Pacific Coast League in AAA baseball. Now, in his spare time he works with the Clark County Youth Sports Program, which raises money to help fund local sports endeavors.
  • Rian Lindell – As an NFL placekicker, Lindell played for the Dallas Cowboys, Seattle Seahawks, and Buffalo Bills. He played football at Washington State University after attending Mountain View High School and Pacific Junior High School in Vancouver. In 2011, Lindell injured his shoulder and was forced to sit out the remainder of the season. In 2012, the Bills and Lindell agreed to a four-year, $10 million contract.
  • Randy Myers – From 1985 through 1998, Myers pitched for the New York Mets, Cincinnati Reds, San Diego Padres, Chicago Cubs, Baltimore Orioles, and Toronto Blue Jays. In 1990, Myers pitched for the World Series champion Reds, earning him and his teammates a spot on Wheaties breakfast cereal boxes. Prior to his professional career, Randy Myers graduated from Evergreen High School and Clark College in Vancouver.
  • Sarona Reiher - As a professional wrestler of Fijian, Samoan, and Tongan ancestry, Reiher started with World Xtreme Wrestling. She is currently signed with the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) group and is stationed at the developmental facility, Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW), under the name Tamina, where she is managing the FCW Tag Team Champions. Reiher is the first female wrestler to come out of the Samoan Wrestling Family.
  • Michael Roos - Michael Roos is an Estonian American football offensive tackle for the Tennessee Titans of the National Football League. Roos was named second-team All-GSHL as tight end at Mountain View High School in Vancouver, WA. He recorded 18 receptions for 306 yards and 3 touchdowns as a senior and he also made 40 tackles and 2 sacks as defensive lineman. More remarkable is the fact that playing for Mountain View's football team was the first time Roos had played organized football in his life. Roos was selected with the ninth pick of the second round of the 2005 NFL Draft out of Eastern Washington. On April 26, 2008 Roos signed a 6 year, $43 million extension with the Tennessee Titans.
  • Richmond "Richie" Sexson – Sexson is a former Major League Baseball first baseman who played for five teams from 1997 through 2008, including the Seattle Mariners, Cleveland Indians, Milwaukie Brewers, Arizona Diamondbacks, and New York Yankees. At 6-feet-8-inches tall, he was the tallest position player in the history of the major leagues. At Prairie High School in Brush Prairie, Sexson was an All-State performer in baseball, basketball, and football. He also set the school record for the most RBI’s and home runs in a career. Richie currently lives in Ridgefield, Washington, with his family. 
  • Curt Warner – Although not a native of Clark County, Warner has lived in Vancouver since retiring from the NFL as a running back. A two-time All-American at Penn State University, Warner was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the first round in 1983. He led the AFC in rushing yards his rookie season and retired after a successful eight-year NFL career. Warner was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2009. In the NFL, he was a three time Pro Bowler and was inducted into the Seattle Seahawks Ring of Honor in 1994. Warner owned Curt Warner Chevrolet in Vancouver for years. Warner now coaches running backs at Camas High School and works with the Curt Warner Autism Foundation, among other endeavors.
